Steffen Leonhardt was born in Frankfurt, Germany, on Nov. 6th, 1961. He holds a M.S. in Computer Engineering from SUNY at Buffalo, NY, USA, a Dipl.-Ing. and a Dr.-Ing. degree in Control Engineering from Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany, and a Dr. med. degree from the Medical School of Goethe University, Frankfurt, Germany. He has 5 years of R&D management experience in medical engineering industry and was appointed Head of the Philips Chair of Medical Information Technology at RWTH Aachen University, Aachen, Germany, in 2003. His research interests include physiological measurement techniques, personal health care systems and feedback control systems in medicine.

Dr. Vivian Huerta was graduated in Biochemistry in 1993 at Havana University. Since then she has worked in the Biomedical Research Direction of the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology of Havana. At the beginning of her carrier, she worked in the identification of new bioactive polypeptides and in the characterization of recombinant proteins developed as biopharmaceuticals, according to the standards of regulatory agencies. She also headed the core facility of protein:protein interaction analysis. She is currently group leader in the Department of System Biology. Her research interest shifted to the study of virus:host interactions using Proteomics methodologies. She has identified a novel putative receptor for dengue virus. Vivian’s laboratory is working in the development of antivirals against this virus based on the inhibition of the interaction with the putative receptor.

Yodira Pérez Díaz holds a Bachelor's Degree in Law and a Master's Degree in Intellectual Property Management, both degrees obtained at the University of Havana. She holds the degree of First Level Technologist granted by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment. With more than 20 years in the biotechnology sector, she is specialized in international legal matters, intellectual property, business development and commercialization of pharmaceutical products, the creation and management of strategic alliances and the appraisal of biotechnology projects. She served as BioCubaFarma's representative in the Federative Republic of Brazil. Currently, she works in the development of key business of the company CIMAB S.A., including business projects aimed at seeking financing from non-dilutive sources, venture capital investors and stock exchange listing.
